About Minago Ink
Where do I download Minago?
You can grab Minago from the Download page on our site. Pick the file for your computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux) and just run it — there's no separate installer wizard. If you have trouble, I'll send you the link!
What happens on first run?
No setup needed! When you run the file, Minago registers this device automatically and gives you a free trial of 1 post (72 hours) right away. Agree to the terms once on the welcome screen, and you can start writing immediately. Make your first writer while your coffee's still warm
What are the system requirements?
It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux desktops. Just the one executable — nothing else to install. You only need an internet connection (writing talks to our server). The payment window opens in your default browser, so having one makes things smoother.
Can I use one license on multiple computers?
Minago is one license per device (hardware). It's securely bound to that single approved computer. Running it on another machine registers that device separately. If you switched computers, we can move your subscription over to the new device — just let support know!
I changed computers — how do I move my balance?
If you changed hardware (new motherboard or new PC), we can transfer your subscription to the new device — we call this a rebind. It isn't automatic; for safety it goes through support. Just send us your old device ID and new device ID (both shown on Minago's welcome screen on each computer) via Telegram or support@modoo.today, and I'll move it over!
What is the 'device ID (machineId)'?
The device ID is like a fingerprint for your computer. It's a safe hash made from your motherboard's hardware info (we never send the raw value), so the same computer always produces the same ID. Your license is tied to it, which is how we recognize your subscription without any username or password. Only part of it shows on screen (e.g. d8f3c2a1…91b4).
Is there no login or sign-up?
That's right — no sign-up needed! Minago registers automatically by device ID, so there's no username or password at all. Just run it and it recognizes your device. Less to keep track of
Is the writing Minago produces really my own?
Yes — it's genuinely your own voice! Minago learns from 3 of your own posts to reproduce your voice, tone, and structure — it's your personal ghostwriter, designed to produce your writing, not generic AI text. Just like its name: "written like you, minutes ago." The posts you feed in should be your own writing (or content you have the rights to) — it's not for mimicking someone else's work. You're responsible for the rights to your sources and for whatever you publish
What do I provide to build a writer?
Just provide 3 posts you wrote (URLs or files). Minago learns your voice, tone, and structure from them to build your personal writer. The more your everyday voice shows, the better the result. You can add up to 3 sources, and even 1 is enough to start!
Can I add reference material when writing?
Yes! When ghostwriting, you can add up to 3 reference sources (URLs or files) — it's optional. And if you turn on 'auto-find sources', Minago searches the internet for topic-relevant material and adds it in. That feature uses a bit more credit, so we tell you the estimated cost before turning it on.
Pricing & billing
Can I try it free first?
Yes! On your first run you can write 1 post free (a trial), no card and no sign-up — it's valid for 72 hours. Check whether you like the quality with no pressure, and if you do, start a monthly plan (Light/Standard/Pro). It's a gift, not a charge, so feel free to play around!
How is cost calculated?
Minago runs on a monthly subscription — pay a flat fee each month and get that month's usage (ink). Each piece draws down by what it actually uses, shown as a usage meter like "X/Y used this month · about N more posts" so it's easy to gauge (no need to think about "tokens"). When you've used up the month's allowance it pauses briefly — just upgrade to a higher plan (more usage right away) or wait for your renewal (it tops up automatically each month). It refills on each renewal and unused usage doesn't carry over to the next month. Failed or below-quality jobs are never charged
Does cost differ by AI model?
Your plan fee is flat, but how much usage a piece draws depends on the AI you pick — a pricier model uses a bit more for the same piece. There are five to choose from: openai, xai, google (default), anthropic, deepseek, each with a slightly different feel. We show the estimated draw before each piece starts, so there are no surprises. If you're unsure, the default google works great!
Where do I check my usage this month?
When you launch Minago it shows right on the welcome screen as a usage meter like "X/Y used this month · about N more posts". It also appears alongside the estimated draw while you build a writer or write — no separate lookup needed!
Does unused usage roll over to next month?
No — this month's usage doesn't roll over to the next (no carryover). Each renewal refills (resets) your allowance to that month's amount; leftover from last month isn't added on top. So picking the plan that fits your habits is the most economical — go higher if you write a lot (more usage right away), or Light if you write occasionally!
Can I just pay per use instead of subscribing?
Right now it's monthly subscription only — there's no one-time purchase or top-up (loading a balance as you go). You pay a flat fee each month and get that month's usage, which keeps costs predictable and simple to manage. Want to test the waters first? Try the free trial (1 post · 72 hours), and if you like it, start with the Light plan. In lighter months you can always downgrade!
How do I pay?
Pay with a monthly subscription via PayPal in USD — easiest with a PayPal account, and you can also pay by card on PayPal's page. There are three plans: Light $5.99 (5,000 ink/mo), Standard $14.99 (15,000 ink/mo), Pro $34.99 (40,000 ink/mo), and each month's usage refills on renewal. It renews automatically (with a heads-up 7 days before), and you can change plans right in the app — upgrades apply instantly, downgrades from your next billing date. Minago opens the payment window securely tied to your device, and your subscription activates automatically when it's done!
I paid but my subscription didn't activate.
It usually activates automatically within seconds. Please wait a moment, relaunch Minago, and check this month's usage. If it still hasn't updated, I'll look into it right away — just email me the PayPal email or transaction ID you paid with, plus your device ID, at support@modoo.today.
How do I get a refund or cancel?
Cancel right in the app — no need to contact anyone. Tap 'Cancel subscription': you won't be billed next cycle, and this month's usage stays usable until your renewal date (it isn't carried over or refunded). On refunds — once you've started even one paid piece, that month isn't refundable (the digital content is in use). But if you've only tried the free trial and haven't started any paid writing yet, you can withdraw within 7 days for a full refund (details at /en/legal/refund and /en/legal/subscription). If an automatic refund ever gets stuck, email support@modoo.today and I'll help
The result was poor — is that refunded?
Good news! If a job fails or doesn't pass the quality check, no charge is made in the first place (that run is free). So there's nothing to refund — your usage for the month stays intact. Even the evaluation and retries are free. Try again with slightly different sources and you may get a better result!
If I cancel, what happens to this month's remaining usage?
Even after you cancel, this month's usage stays usable until your renewal date — it doesn't cut off the moment you cancel. Tapping 'Cancel subscription' only stops the next charge; the cycle you've already paid for runs to the end. That said, leftover usage isn't carried over or refunded (it's digital content already in use). Change your mind? You can resubscribe anytime before renewal!
Privacy
What information do you collect?
We collect the minimum. A device ID (hash) to recognize your device, PayPal payment info for billing, and logs needed to run the service. We never send the raw hardware value — only the hash. Full details are in our Privacy Policy (/en/legal/privacy).
Is my writing (sources) stored on your server?
Your original posts or URL contents aren't fetched by our server directly. Sources are organized (converted) on your own computer first, then used for writing. And the finished post (.md) is saved to your computer's Documents folder (not our server). Your writing stays in your hands
Where are the terms and refund policy?
You can find them all under /en/legal on the Minago site — the EULA, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Subscription Terms, in Korean and English (the same canonical doc shown to match your language). The app also shows you the links on first start. Ask me if any clause is unclear!

Quality & support
Which AI should I pick?
If you're unsure, just keep the default, google — it's fast and great at organizing sources, so it suits most cases. openai is steady, anthropic shines on long calm pieces, and xai nails punchy expressions. You can even try different AIs with the same writer. There's no wrong choice — pick freely!
How is quality checked?
After writing, Minago evaluates quality automatically. No matter which AI you wrote with, this evaluation always runs on Google so the standard stays consistent. And the quality check is free — we cover it. So you can leave it to us with peace of mind
What if the result doesn't meet the bar?
Don't worry — if quality falls short, Minago automatically rewrites up to 2 more times, and retries aren't charged. If it still can't pass, we mark it failed and that run is completely free (zero charge). Your usage for the month stays intact, so try again with different sources or another AI!
Can facts in the result be inaccurate?
Yes, it can. Minago produces a meta-review that imitates the author's voice, persona, and tone — since reproducing the voice is the point, prices, specs, figures, or experiences not in your material may get filled in naturally (that's the nature of meta-review). So please review, verify, and edit the content yourself before publishing — you're responsible for what you post. The app also shows this notice when a piece is finished.
It says I'm out of usage this month.
You've used up this month's Ink. It refills on your next renewal, or upgrade your plan to keep going right away. It shows when your remaining usage is less than the job needs, and we stop it before it starts — so no usage was charged. Upgrade to a higher plan for more usage right away, or it tops up automatically at your next renewal!
It says my device isn't registered.
This usually shows when your hardware changed (new motherboard or PC) — your device ID changed, so it's seen as a new device. To move your subscription over, send support your old device ID + new device ID and I'll transfer it. If it's just a momentary glitch, relaunching Minago can help too!
The job dropped mid-way with a connection failure.
Occasionally a job can drop mid-way due to network or server hiccups. When that happens, no usage is charged (failed runs are free), so relax and hit 'Retry' in a moment. It helps to check your internet connection too. If it keeps happening, let me know — we'll look into it together!
It says it couldn't meet the quality bar.
Didn't meet the quality bar. Try tweaking your sources or a different AI. (No credit was charged.) This is after Minago automatically rewrote up to 2 times, so your usage for the month is untouched. The tips (swap sources / try another AI) are right there as on-screen buttons!
The app asks me to update to the latest version.
This means your app version is outdated. Please download the latest version from the download page and run it. No need to migrate settings — Minago finds your subscription by device ID. If downloading is confusing, I'll send you the link!
Where is the finished post saved?
The finished post is saved as a markdown (.md) file in ~/Documents/minago/ghostwrites/ on your computer. The folder is created automatically if missing. On the result screen, 'Open in editor' or 'Open folder' takes you right to it. The writing is entirely yours
It says it couldn't save the result.
This can happen if the save folder lacks write permission. Please check you can write to ~/Documents/minago/ghostwrites/. If not, use 'Copy to clipboard' on the result screen and paste it somewhere safe. The post itself was created fine, so your content is safe!
How do I contact support?
Reach out anytime! The fastest way is Telegram @minago_ghostwriter_bot — tap 'Support' (/support) in the app or on the web and it connects you right away. You can also email support@modoo.today and we'll get back to you within a business day. The bot answers common questions instantly, 24/7, and anything that needs a human is routed to our team. Refunds and subscription cancellations are handled right in the app, so you don't need to contact us for those
Integrations & API
How can I use Minago?
There are five ways — interactive (TUI) in your terminal, one-line CLI, MCP to plug into AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor, a local API (Minago serve) your own programs can call, and a no-install web demo. Day to day, just run Minago for the interactive mode; use the CLI for repeat tasks and MCP or the API for developer integrations. All five share the same writers, the same usage, and the same charging rules
Can I use Minago inside AI tools like Claude Code or Cursor?
Yes — connect it as an MCP server. Register Minago mcp with your host (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or Claude Desktop) and that tool can call Minago's build, ghostwrite, and lookup actions directly as tools. There are 6 tools — 4 read-only (your status, agent list, detail, delete) and 2 that write (generate, ghostwrite). Reads are never charged; only a successful post is, one charge per post (evaluation, retries, and failures are free). The docs' 'Connect to AI tools (MCP)' section walks you through setup.
Can I call Minago from my own program or script?
Yes — through a local REST API. Run Minago serve and a REST server starts on your machine (http://127.0.0.1:51789) — call endpoints like GET /v1/self (this month's usage), GET /v1/agents (your writers), POST /v1/agents (build a writer), and POST /v1/ghostwrite (write a post). Writing streams progress live (SSE) and returns the final post as markdown. The full spec is right there at /openapi.json with a Swagger UI (/docs). It's a safe local server — it runs only on your computer, never exposed to the outside.
If an AI tool calls it automatically, could costs run up unexpectedly?
No need to worry — there are several safeguards. First, reads, evaluation, retries, and failures are never charged — only a successful post is. The writing tools state their cost up front and nudge a usage check first; whoami even tells you "about N posts left." You can also cap how many posts a session may auto-generate (MINAGO_MCP_MAX_POSTS), and the server blocks ahead of time if your monthly usage is short. Above all, spending stays within your monthly usage, so it can never run past what you have
